Assessment & Development Centres

Research demonstrates that a well designed, competency managed centre is one of the most effective methods for assessing individuals behaviour. A number of meta-analysis studies (e.g. Hunter & Hunter, 1984; and Gaugler et al., 1987) demonstrate that assessment centres are a reliable and valid method of predicting future in-job performance. Such centres are even more effective at predicting future potential (e.g. Cohen et al., 1974 cited in Cook, 1998), and therefore highly appropriate for development purposes.
